Stylish New Leather Bible Giveaway: Winner's Choice! NLT, One Year Bible, Teen, or Large Print

My last bible giveaway was such a success that I'm excited to do another giveaway--the winner will pick any of the following bibles from Tyndale Publishing!

#1 The 1 Year Bible:

The bible is beautiful in 2 different colors: each has a two-toned cover and silver-edged pages.  It's not an ordinary bible--it's written in the New Living Translation (which flows as well as any novel and helps me really get into it) and isn't in order. Instead, there's a daily reading that is so interesting and will get you through the entire bible in one year with only reading 3-4 pages a day.  I have it and I love it so much!  It would also make an amazing Mother's Day gift.

Each daily reading in the One Year Bible has an Old Testament selection, a New Testament selection, a Psalm, and a Proverb.  At first, the bible surprised me b/c I've never seen one set up this way but now that I've tried it, I'm so excited about it!

#2
The Camo Bible. Perfect for teens or preteens! Fashionable camo design makes it fun to carry your Bible wherever you go. Tough canvas cover and zipper closure protect the pages. Features include NLT text, thin, compact size, attractive zipper closure, presentation page, fashionable camouflage design, durable canvas binding.

#3
Slimline Reference Bible NLT, Large Print
This compact slimline Bible, now available with full center-column references, features a portable size in a stylish TuTone design for today’s on-the-go lifestyle. Classic reference features include a dictionary/concordance, full-color maps, a ribbon marker, and gilded edges.  The New Living Translation is an authoritative Bible translation, rendered faithfully into today’s English from the ancient texts by 90 leading Bible scholars. The NLT’s scholarship and clarity breathe life into even the most difficult-to-understand Bible passages—but even more powerful are stories of how people’s lives are changing as the words speak directly to their hearts. That’s why we call it “The Truth Made Clear.”

Look to the East: A Historical Romance #FREE from Tyndale House

I loved this series!  Maureen Lang is one of my favorite historical fiction writers.  I'm excited to let you know you can get your own copy of  Look to the East free from Tyndale Rewards to get you started on The Great War Series.  Each book stands on its own, but if you want to read them all, you can find the other 2 on Amazon.

About the Book
At the dawn of the First World War, the French provincial village of Briecourt is isolated from the battles, but the century-old feud between the Toussaints and the de Colvilles still rages in the streets. When the German army sweeps in to occupy the town, families on both sides of the feud must work together to protect stragglers caught behind enemy lines. Julitte Toussaint may have been adopted from a faraway island, but she feels the scorn of the de Colvilles as much as anyone born a Toussaint. So when she falls in love with one of the stragglers—a wealthy and handsome Belgian entrepreneur—she knows she’s playing with fire. Charles Lassone hides in the cellar of the Briecourt church, safe from the Germans for the moment. But if he’s discovered, it will bring danger to the entire village and could cost Charles his life.

London Confidential Teen Fiction #Giveaway

London Confidential is a new series for young girls. In the series, British fashion, friendships, and guys collide as an all-American teen girl learns to love life and live out her faith. The series follows Savvy’s entertaining attempts to fit in during her first year at a new school in a new country.  I skimmed these books on-line and instantly knew that I would've loved this series while I was in high school.  One of my blog readers will receive the first book in the series.

More about the book...
Flirting With Disaster
In a shocking turn of events, all writers for the Wexburg Academy Times will cast their votes for next year’s editor—and it looks like Savvy’s vote will be the tie breaker! She must choose between a nasty-girl-turned-nice, with a sudden interest in letting Savvy get what she wants, and the prickly Hazelle, who promises nothing at all. Savvy then finds herself wrapped up in a new, seemingly innocent but potentially dangerous activity. It’s all at risk in this book: her position on the paper, the boy she likes, the ministry she wants to go well. At a critical moment, Savvy must figure out how to rely on God rather than luck and to overcome temptation before it is too late.

This hilarious rhyming story, complete with charming art, offers comfort to children who often feel left out or are in need of a good friend.

Sometimes, all these girls drive him a little crazy!  This book seemed perfect and we actually recently got him a dog, too--very timely!

Told in a playful rhyme with adorable illustrations, this book will be a favorite among children and parents who love dogs and, ultimately, will comfort and encourage children who struggle with feeling accepted and finding friends.

Brave Girls Pre-Teen 2-book Devo #Giveaway

Having struggled against demanding perfection of myself, and wanting others to see me as "perfect" no matter the cost in the not-distant-enough past, I love the theme of these devotional books!  If there's a book out there that will help my daughters to realize God doesn't demand perfection of them, the book "Better Than Perfect" is it!  "Faithful Friends" is likewise a wonderful book.  Each is filled with 90 devotions that take up only a page.  Short and sweet.  Now more about each of these books:

Better than perfect: that’s what every girl is in God’s eyes.
A young girl’s doubt in her own self-worth starts from an early age. Am I pretty enough? Am I smart enough? Will I fit in? Do people like me? Am I worthy enough? These aren’t questions asked by teens, but from precious girls in grade school! Brave Girls Faith and Honor will help girls navigate these questions and learn just how wonderful they are!
This book will help young girls find their place in the world and learn that the beauty of their imperfections is what makes them unique, loved, precious, and “better than perfect” in God’s eyes.
Each devotion includes:
  • A relevant opening scripture from the Bible
  • A thought-provoking devotion to build a young girl’s spirit
  • An engaging closing prayer to help the reader navigate her day!
Faithful Friends, forever true . . . hearts together, me and you!
From the time they are babies, some little girls reach out to those around them, smiling, laughing, playing, and making friends. Others might find it a little tough. This new Brave Girls book will reinforce a young girl's desire to have friends, to BE a friend, and to help her share her faith with friends of all ages. Just as God is our “Forever Friend,” faithful and true, the Brave Girls take readers through these pages, encouraging her to be best friend she can be!
Each devotion includes:
A relevant opening scripture from the Bible
  • A thought-provoking devotion to encourage a faithful and friendly heart
  • An engaging closing prayer to help the reader become the ambassador of friendship God wants her to be!
My Brave Girl

Who is your favorite bible girl?  Or what is your daughters favorite thing to do with her best friend?

The Bracelet: Mysterious, Romantic Historical Fiction from Dorothy Love

A beautiful girl.
A mysterious bracelet.
A deadly message.

Inspired by actual events in one of Savannah’s most prominent 19th century families, THE BRACELET combines romance, rich historical detail and breathtaking suspense as one young woman embarks upon a dangerous quest to free herself from her family’s tragic past. It hooked me from start to finish--a fabulous story!  The mystery kept me guessing, I genuinely liked the heroine Celia, and the ending was not at all predictable.  I absolutely cannot wait for the next book by Miss Love!

More about the Book:
Lose yourself in the timeless beauty and charm of Old Savannah in this story of mystery, dangerous family secrets, and heartwarming romance. Celia Browning is counting the days until her childhood sweetheart Sutton Mackay returns to Savannah after two years in Jamaica looking after his family’s shipping interests. She’s certain he will propose marriage, thus joining two of the city’s most prominent families. But just as Sutton returns, an unsavory newspaper reporter arrives in town, determined to revive interest in the secret tragedies that occurred in the Browning mansion on Madison Square when Celia was a child. A series of mysterious notes arrives at the house, followed by an anonymous gift—a bracelet imbued with a sinister message. Is it merely a coincidence, or is someone out to harm her? As war clouds gather over Savannah and her beloved father’s health worsens, Celia determines to uncover the truth about what really happened all those years ago.

"The Shadow of Your Smile" One of my Favorite Books in a Long Time! #Free

Susan May Warren is my favorite contemporary fiction writer.  I usually go for the historical fiction, but Miss Warren always weaves sweet stories with wonderful characters who seem so very real.  Last month, I requested The Shadow of Your Smile free from Tyndale Rewards.  It was so good! One of the very best books I have read in a long time, and they still have more free copies!  Go get yours!!

Here's a story synopsis:

A beautiful blanket of snow may cover the quaint town of Deep Haven each winter, but it can’t quite hide the wreckage of Noelle and Eli Hueston’s marriage. After twenty-five years, they’re contemplating divorce . . . just as soon as their youngest son graduates from high school. But then an accident erases part of Noelle’s memory. Though her other injuries are minor, she doesn’t remember Eli, their children, or the tragedy that has ripped their family apart. What’s more, Noelle is shocked that her life has turned out nothing like she dreamed it would. As she tries to regain her memory and slowly steps into her role as a wife and mother, Eli helps her readjust to daily life with sometimes-hilarious, sometimes-heartwarming results. But can she fall in love again with a man she can’t remember? Will their secrets destroy them . . . or has erasing the past given them a chance for a future?

You can read the first chapter here or you can get it free by heading to Tyndale Rewards and heading to the "Earn Points" tab and then the "Browse" tab--click on Fiction and you'll see it there.  Let me know if you read it and like it!

Pulling Back the Shades: Erotica, Intimacy, and the Longing of a Woman's Heart #Giveaway

Once upon a time (back in high school) I got really hooked on my step mom's historical fiction romances.  These were not, by any means, Christian romances.  No way, josé.  They were the kind of books Russia's Vladimir Putin seems to wish to be on the cover of.  They were pretty erotic, and they created in me a desire to always want the kind of fire and excitement that comes along with lust.  Even after becoming a Christian, I struggled with that for a long time.  And no one ever preached about that--about women struggling with lust--until very recently.  There are a couple of authors who have decided to open their lives and write pages and pages of honesty and life-changing hope, and to speak truth where the Christian world has been so silent for so long.

Pulling Back the Shades is one of those books.  It's very well-written, and it's a quick read.  Honest, thought-provoking, and the perfect book for anyone who has ever struggled with impure thoughts or discontent in her sex-life or marriage.

Christian women don't have to choose between being sexual and spiritual. They have legitimate longings so many Christians have been afraid to talk about, and books like Fifty Shades of Grey exploit. Whether you are single or married, sexually dead or just looking to revive your sex life, Pulling Back the Shades will address your desire to be both sexual AND spiritual. With solid Biblical teaching and transparent stories, trusted authors Dannah Gresh and Dr. Juli Slattery offer an unflinching look at the most personal questions women ask.

The book offers practical advice for women to address five core longings:
  • to be cherished by a man
  • to be protected by a strong man
  • to rescue a man
  • to be sexually alive
  • to escape reality
God designed women with these longings and has a plan to satisfy them. It's time for women to identify their intimate longings and God-honoring ways to fulfill them.

I love the way these women write because they are so real and honest: honest about their own failings and temptations, and they're not writing of something they know nothing about.  They write with a heart for their reader, whether you're into this "Fifty Shades of Gray" thing or not.  One of them has read "Fifty Shades", one of them hasn't.

If you are into "Fifty Shades", if you're just wondering what all this sexual fantasy is about, if you've struggled with inappropriate fantasy in the past, or if you long for more fulfilling sex in your marriage, please read "Pulling Back the Shades"! It's something I believe God put on these women's hearts in His always-perfect timing.

Giveaway
One of my readers will win her own copy of Pulling Back the Shades.  Enter below by Dec 2nd at 11 pm anyone's time.  I'll choose a winner the next morning via Random.org.

My little guy loves this comic book style bible--The Action Bible: The Battle Begins, The Story of Creation!  It's very cool.  The pictures are awesome--very vivid artwork, quite realistic, and the story is great.... of course!  This is a really ingenious way to get kids who aren't into reading into the bible, and I like it because as you can see, my little guy loves comics!  And so do so many other kiddos.  Superheroes are awesome, and Jesus is the most amazing superhero of all--He rose from the dead, He walked through walls, He teleported, He's eternal--He's amazing!  He should definitely have His own comic book series!  You can get this book and the others at Family Christian Stores all around the country, or on-line.

"It Will Be Okay" Children's Picture Book #Giveaway

In the end, it will be okay because God is always with us.

Truth be told, I need these kinds of reminders, too!  Life has thrown some crazy challenges my way of late.  And, whether we like it or not, growing up brings change for our kids. For many children, this conjures fears that are sometimes real and sometimes imagined. How can kids learn that even when they face new and unfamiliar situations, they don’t have to be afraid? Little Seed and Little Fox are facing changes and brand new circumstances—and they don’t like it one bit! Through this unlikely friendship, children will discover that no matter how new or fearful their circumstances, God is always with them. The whimsical art by Natalia Moore will put a smile on kids’ faces and put their minds at ease. Just as Little Seed and Little Fox learn to trust that the Farmer is good and kind, children will also learn to trust God. A charming and heartwarming story!

The Legend of Saint Nicholas: A Picture Book with Gorgeous Artwork and a Wonderful Story about the Real St. Nick!

The Legend of St. Nicholas is filled with beautiful artwork and tells the story of a young man named Nicholas, who was moved by the plight of the poor and needy. I've taught my children who Santa Claus really was since they were tiny.  Whether your kiddos believe in Santa or not, this is a wonderful, magical story about the real Nicholas who spent his life secretly helping the poor all over the world, giving gifts on Christmas Eve to remind people of the greatest Gift of all, Jesus Christ.

I love this book!  It's by one of our favorite authors, Dandi Daley Mackall (check out her books on Amazon! She has so many great reads for kiddos from birth to middle school ages).  But back to the book at hand!  The Legend of St. Nicholas make a wonderful pre-Christmas or even Christmas gift.  It would also be the perfect addition to a church preschool.  I'll be donating ours to that cause.  This gentle Christmas book introduces the original St. Nicholas and offers inspiration for readers to become cheerful givers themselves. The final pages in the book include fun Father Christmas traditions in other lands.

Revolutionary War, Adventures in Odyssey Style!

Just like the other Imagination Station books, Surprise at Yorktown is filled with history and a great storyline, not to mention adventure and surprise! This is the 3rd in a sub-series revolving around the Revolutionary War. We read this book as part of a homeschool unit study on the American Revolution. Like the other Imagination Station books, this had all of my kids (ages 6, 9, and 10) on the edge of their seats--I read this series aloud to my 6 year old while my 9 and 10 year olds read them silently (mainly b/c they can't wait to see what happens next!) My oldest daughter devoured this book in one day and she can't wait to read the next one!  Every time one of these books come in the mail, it's cause for celebration at our house!

More about this book:
Travel two centuries back in time to the final battle of the American Revolution at Yorktown, Virginia. Cousins Patrick and Beth sneak through trenches and race across battlefields to warn General George Washington about a dangerous spy. The spy is stealing his secret plans and giving them to the British. Cannons roar and the ground shakes as the struggle reaches a climax. Washington’s ragtag soldiers are up against the most powerful army in the world. Will Patrick and Beth witness the American Revolution come to an end? Or will they be caught in a dangerous trap they can’t escape?

Get to Know Mary... another great kid's biography

Mary was more than the mother of Jesus.  She was a hero of the bible.  She said "Yes!" to God.

I've found a great new series to use as part of our homeschool curriculum this year.  The second book in the Get to Know Series from Zondervan is a unique biography about Mary, Jesus' mother.

Get to Know Mary really shows the reader what life was really like for Mary.  It's a little over 100 pages, the perfect length for my 4th graders.  It focuses on  Mary's life and character using color photographs, maps, and other visual resources to tell the whole story.  I like that it's such a history book--but an easy-to-read one.  Featuring a bibliography and scriptural references throughout, this is sure to become a favorite for young readers and for first book reports.  I am so eager to get our hands on the rest of the series!

Get to Know Jesus... a great biography for kids!

I've found a great new series to use as part of our homeschool curriculum this year.  The first book in the Get to Know Series from Zondervan is a unique biography about Jesus, the son of God. My 8 year old daughter reads her bible (we have the New International Readers Version which I highly recommend!) but has been asking how to know Jesus better, so I jumped at the chance to review this book.  Get to Know Jesus really shows the reader what life was like for Jesus.  It's a little over 100 pages, the perfect length for my 4th graders.  It focuses on  Jesus' life and character using color photographs, maps, and other visual resources to tell the whole story, young biography fans will come to learn more about this man of the God and the role he plays in history. Featuring a bibliography and scriptural references throughout, this is sure to become a favorite for young readers and for first book reports.  I am so eager to get our hands on the rest of the series!

My daughter loves the new My Princessess books!  And so do I.  They're absolutely adorable, the illustrations are charming, and the story is inspiring.  It encourages my daughter to understand that she is a princess because she is God's child, a daughter of the King.  Both books feature little girls named Hope and Grace who are learning how to live as "princesses" by learning new bible stories and finding out how they relate to their lives.  I've always taught my littles that they are princesses because Jesus is the King, and I was excited to see a new book series that would go along with that--especially one with such beautiful illustrations.  These books would make wonderful gifts for the little royalty in your life!

Little girls love princesses—complete with tiaras, gowns, and all things sparkly. This new, affordable picture book series captures the love of princesses and adds a biblical lesson, teaching girls they are daughters of the King and encouraging them to live as God would have them live.

Special thanks to the wonderful people at Tyndale for providing me with this review opportunity.
