Down the Snow Stairs is a classic children's book. Written in 1887, it's been republished by Salem Ridge Press as a nice hardcover including the orgininal, beautiful illustrations.
Down the Snow Stairs is the enchanting story of a little girl named Kitty who can't sleep. The story begins on Christmas Eve... yes, the perfect book to read with your family this Christmas season! The book begins when Kitty can't sleep. She ends up traveling to far away lands and meets many people--some who want to take her away from "the Path of Obedience" and some who want to help her to resist the many temptations and win a Christmas blessing.
Down the Snow Stairs is an allegory about the sorrows that disobedience brings and the blessings that obedience brings. It's enchanting fiction to read on your own and also makes a wonderful read-aloud for the family. It reminds me of the Narnia books or a Pilgrim's Progress for little ones. You can decide for yourself, though, by reading a sample chapter here.
Down the Snow Stairs is one of many wonderful classic books which have been reprinted by Salem Ridge Press. They do their best to find wholesome books for families and I definitely appreciate a company like that!
